Educators will be introduced to the new Montclair History Center (formally the Montclair Historical Society) and the educational opportunities it offers about early America, slavery in the north, the coming of the railroad and the Civil War, Civil Rights, and de facto segregation. Teachers will explore and discuss how to use the Montclair History Center’s museums, artifacts, and research library can help them infuse local history into their content areas. Field trip options and pricing for all grade levels will be discussed including the new History in a Box program, where Montclair History Center’s educators bring history to your classrooms. Continental breakfast and lunch served. Teachers earn 6 professional development hours at the end of the day. Program is held at the Crane House and Historic YWCA, 110 Orange Road, Montclair, within walking distance from Montclair Center Church Street shopping and restaurants.
